Piano Tuning and Repair Company in Washington, PA

Ron Gordon With Attache Case — Fix a piano PA in Washington, PA
Ron tunes pianos by ear. "I love to tune pianos; it's like a hobby. Tuning by ear is an art."
In 1982 Ron worked at a Christian ministry out in the country with 20 pianos. Calling in tuners from larger cities was expensive. Ron thought, "With a good ear for music, surely I can learn to tune pianos."
A year later he had completed a course in piano tuning and repair. He also joined the Dayton chapter of the (international) Piano Technicians' Guild, and was receiving pointers from the other tuners. Today, his tuning ability passes at the examiner's level with the tuners' guild.
Ron began his full-time business in 1988 in Charleston, WV. Today tuning to him is just as fresh as back then. After his first ten years in the business full time, he moved into the Greater Pittsburgh Area where he resides today with his wife and dog.

A Cute Story
When Ron first became interested in piano tuning, he needed to acquire a piano on which to learn. At the time he was renting a room in a family's home. He purchased a big old upright and used it in the basement of the home. Tuning, untuning, and retuning is apparently rather annoying to listen to, and when he finished the piano tuning course, the master of the home was only too glad to see him sell that piano. He sold it to a girl named Mary Wehmanen and two years later, she became his wife. So he got his piano back. She says, "It probably turned out to be the most expensive piano he ever had."
